Integration Joint Board
The Integration Joint Board (IJB) is a joint board of Aberdeenshire Council and NHS Grampian. It oversees the Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership (AHSCP).
The IJB manage adult health and social care services in Aberdeenshire.
The IJB has a legal obligation to comply with certain acts and orders.
The IJB is legally required to produce and maintain a publication scheme that sets out the information it publishes and how it can be accessed.
Legal responsibility to involve people
The Public Bodies (Joint Working) (Membership and Procedures of Integration Joint Boards) (Scotland) Order 2014 (the Order) sets out requirements about the membership of an IJB. This includes minimum required membership, and provision for additional members to be appointed.
The order explains that it is essential that IJBs include key people in the decision making processes to use their advice and experience. So IJB membership must include a public representative to represent the general public and a carer representative who will represent unpaid carers.
Find out more about becoming a representative.
The board consists of five Aberdeenshire Councillors and five NHS Grampian Board members. There are also non-voting members of the board which include council and NHS officers as well as representatives from users of adult health and social care services, carers groups, trade unions and the third sector.
IJB members are required to declare any outside interests, for example any other organisations they represent, if they have shares in companies, and if they have received any gifts in relation to their work on the board.

The IJB approved AHSCP's first Equality Outcomes Report (pdf 2.7MB) in April 2016. This sets out the proposed areas the Partnership will focus on from April 2016 to April 2020. To help track and demonstrate what has been done so far, IJB approved April 2018 progress report (pdf 2MB).
The IJB notice of meetings and minutes are available on our committee page.
